Chen has emotions like we do
Most people associate the name Chen Kun with that handsome actor with melancholy eyes frequently seen on TV. But Chen has different ideas: he wants people to know that he can sing, and that he sings to express his feelings and emotions, like any young guy. And he has a debut album to show it. “Osmosis” hits stores across China last week.
“It is simple a dream come true,” said Chen. He used to be a singer with China’s Oriental Song and Dance Troupe before gaining stardom as an actor. “I’m another ordinary music-loving guy who wants to express himself through music”, Chen told Beijing Youth Weekly.
The album has 10 songs about love, dreams and growth, mixing pop, blues and jazz elements. It pictures a well-rounded Chen Kun-both in happiness and in sorrow.
“I chose the title ‘Osmosis’ ,myself because it is a process that takes time. It may not catch much attention at the beginning, but ultimately, it penetrates and spreads,” said the confident, but modest singer. “I hope the album has this penetrating power and reaches people in some unnoticeable manner.”
