No, I did not vote for Obama.  I did not vote for anybody this time because I did not like any of them.
In US, almost each big company announced lay off recently.   I should be more careful to get on the internet during working hours ha...http://www.ichenkun.com/bbs/images/smilies/loveliness.gif

I like the topic about "lavender" more, I love the smell, too.  I just bought a bottle of Lavender bath salt, does anybody know how many amount shall I put in the bath tub?  Thx.

圆圆的园子 发表于 2008-11-15 00:05

lavender ! I would like to say something, hahaha
radio,if you just put the whole bottle of lavender salt into your bath, then you could talk like Marilyn Monroe:" I wear lavender on bed only " kakakakaka;P

few days ago I tavelled to  a tourists' mountain villa where famouse for lavender, however, the lavender doesn't smell anything!!!:'(
what's more, the taste of the  lavender icecream is awful.
my  disappointment was complete.
is any body know more about  lavender ? I like this topic too.

by the way,
Today I read the newspaper that  talked about people had sushi or shashimi once then infect liver fluke. This is a serious insidious disease. If people ignore infection, it might cause cirrhosis, gall-stone, liver cancer.  Within a month,Some people might have an excruciating pain in the belly and  high fever.70% of people who infect liver fluke doesn’t have any clear early symptoms. So scary!! :o
Be careful the way use chopping block, should separate for raw and cooked. Also, if you have cut of your hand do not touch raw meet, since it will infect other disease through your cut.

have a nice weekend! ciao~~

Welcome and thanks for sharing.:) :pj_040  I love the smell of lavender. Haven't got many ideas about Obama though,I bet Radiowoman would like to talk about him with you.  Did you vote for him? I ...

Thanks Ziggi. I remember Kun loves lavender too and he said the lavender is a beautiful name. I got this nickname because of him. And there is a romantic town named Provence in southern France. Provence is famous for wines and flowers, esp. of lavender blooming in Aug. every year.

I can’t vote for Obama because I’m not a US resident. I just watched the US presidential debate and I admire him for his personality and debating skills. He looks confident instead of aggressive, creative but steady, so I hope he’ll be a good president to stand for the whole national benefits and help American economic recovery.

Functions of lavender

This wonderful herb has many uses, in food, cosmetics and medicines. The lavender oil should not be taken internally, but it can be inhaled, rubbed on the skin or used in baths. It:

nervous and physical symptoms caused by stress, for example:
headaches,
palpitations and

also has a relaxing effect on the digestive system where it soothes spasms, and colic related to tensions and anxiety. It relieves:
distension,
wind,
nausea,
indigestion and

has powerful antiseptic properties that have been shown to be effective against bacteria such as diphtheria, typhoid, streptococcus and pneumococcus.
When taken as a hot infusion lavender causes sweating and reduces fever. It assist in detoxifying the body by increasing the elimination of toxins via the skin and with its mild diuretic action, through the urine.
is useful externally as a disinfectant for cuts and wound, sores and ulcers and in cases of eczema and acne.

Oh, my! It IS serious. I know it is said that there are some vermin in the shashimi (we call it salmon, don't know are they the same thing?),sounds horrible. I'd better quit salmon then. But the other kinds of sushi should be alright I think. I love sushi and always make some by myself, normally I put cucumber, Japanese raddish(light yellow colour) and BBQ chicken inside, my Aussie friends love them too. So, I always make sushi for parties cauz it's easy to make and easy to eat as well, like kind of finger food, really suitable for parties.
Thanks for your suggestion. Definitely, we should always use seperate chopping board to prevent any infections. I've had some classes/workshops about Safe Food Handling and Infection Control, they have lots of practical ideas about this topic. If you interested in it, I could share some of my hand outs with you guys here. :loveliness: :pj_040

That sounds creepy!  Me and my husband normally have dinners at Japanese restaurants 2 or 3 times a week.  The Japanese foods with very low cholesterol content and is practically free from the saturated (“bad”) fats abundantly present in red meat, dairy produce and butter. Instead, the Japanese diet abounds in seafood: fish, rich in polyunsaturated (“good”) fats, and the seaweeds Kombu (from warm waters) and Nori (from cold waters) .These contain high amounts of iodine as well as minerals and microelements which are both healthy.

Like Ziggi, I make sushi by myself at home as well.  I love making Las Vegas Roll, I normally put tuna, crab meat, avocado and cream cheese with panko crumbs outside, deep fried it, serve with eel sauce... so yummy!

I like Japanese seaweed salad too, which is a really good food for losing weight!

Thanksgiving is next week, Turkey is the traditional dish on Thanksgiving's dinner table.  Would you please tell us, have you ever had turkey?  And, how do you like it?

Marilyn 发表于 2008-11-20 11:56

I never liked turkey, I'd rather sit over there and only eat the gravy, stuffings and cranberry sauce.... haha... however Thanksgivng and Christmas are my husband's favorite holidays... he loves turkey breast and ham! It's always his job and duty to cook the turkey for the whole family each year. We will fly to my mother in law's home for Thanksgivng next weekend and for sure, my husband will cook the poor birdy again.

BTW, he has tons of turkey recipes, got most of them from American Food Network!

radiowoman 发表于 2008-11-20 12:12

Thanks, Marilyn!

My sons vote to eat Turkey this year. So, I have to deal with this bird for the 1st time.  After checking around, I decided to buy a smoke Turkey in Costco and order the side dishes, bread, gravy, deserts from the local restaurant.  Thou, it is a little bit cheating, but at least, it won't ruin out our Thanksgiving dinner.

Marilyn 发表于 2008-11-20 14:39

Dear Radio:

Your city has "Marie Callender's", it has really good turkey package during the Thanksgiving holiday. There are full of people order it and pick it up on Thanksgiving day.  Don't forget Pumpkin pie, the Marie Callender's has famous Pumpkin Pie!  Actually Marie Callender's has the best pies EVER!

Is it? Will it be next week? We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here, isn't it interesting? At least we don't have many people celebrate it and turkey is not really popular here as well.
Well, have fun and enjoy your turkey dinner, girls.:D

Well, ha ...

Dear Ziggi, I just checked from websites:

Thanksgiving Day in Canada is celebrated on the second Monday in the month of October every year. Canada celebrates Thanksgiving Day a month earlier than in American.

Thanksgivng day is a National day in Australia, it occurs in March for 3 or 4 days .

Date of Thanksgiving Day varies every year and several countries celebrate it in different time of the year. :D
