A. China is a land of mystery and charm with abundant tourism
resources.
B. China is a curious land and rich in abundant tourism resources.
解析
在汉英翻译中，最重要的是正确的理解汉语句子的意义，然后用英语准确的翻译出来。从B句的翻译来看，译者对汉语原文显然没有透彻的理解。Curious的意思是"好奇的"，显然它无法传达汉语意思"令人神往"。而且，在用英语翻译的过程中，译者错误的使用了一些固定的词组。rich
in 本身就包含有"丰富"的意思。而译者又使用了abundant, 这样在汉语意思上，就重复累赘了。
内蒙古是一个独具风格而极富魅力的旅游胜地。
A.Inner Mongolia is a unique and very enchanting tourist
attraction with abundant natural and human tourism resources.
B.Mongolia is a tourist attraction filled with charms and
particular styles.
解析
在汉英翻译中，我们往往把绝大部分的注意力放在了普通的词汇上而忽视了对专有词汇的剖析，特别是专有名词。如果我们在汉英翻译中不注意这一点的话，就会闹出大笑话。在译句B中，译者就没有弄明白Inner
Mongolia 和Mongolia 所代表的地域范畴。在英语中，Inner Mongolia 指的是中国的一个少数民族自治区，即内蒙古自治区；而Mongolia
在指代地域时指的是另外一个国家蒙古，也就是人们过去常说的外蒙。
关于中国的风景胜地，有两句家喻户晓的古话。一句是"上有天堂，下有苏杭"。另一句是"桂林山水甲天下，阳朔山水甲桂林"。
A With regard to China's scenic beauty, there are two popular
Chinese sayings known to many: "In heaven is paradise, on earth are Suzhou
and Hangzhou." "Guilin's mountains and waters rank first in China

在把汉语句子转换为英语时，一定要注意汉语中所包含具体的意义到底是什么。"天下"在汉语中是有"世界"的意思。但是，在这个谚语中，"天下"指得却是中国，而不是全世界。所以，译句B中用world转换天下是不妥贴的。而且，译句B中old
一词看似对应上了汉语"古"，其实，这个old用得多余了。因为我们知道汉语句子中的两句古话就是谚语。而谚语是经过长时间的锤炼流传下来的，所以谚语本身就是时间久远的产物。很显然，这儿的old多余的。
秦兵马俑的出土被称为是本世纪考古史上最为重大的发现之一，它吸引着世界各地慕名而来的前拜望参观者。
A Many believe the terra-cotta figures are the important
archaeological find of the century. The vivid figures attract thousands of
visitors from various parts of the world.
B One of the most important inventions of archaeology in
this century is the excavation of the terracotta warriors of Qing Dynasty

解析
发现与发明是来个概念。发现指找到了已经存在的东西，发明指的是创造出了以前不存在的东西。所以，译句B中用invention 来转换汉语发现是不恰当的。此外，Qing
Dynasty 与汉语中的秦朝十部相对应的。秦朝的英语对应形势应该是Qin Dynasty. 所以，一个字母的差别就可能是天壤之别的两个概念。
