hmmm....Faye Wong really sings this song very well, sentimental, touching yet appealing, I love it so much man, this song perfectly matches the ambience recalling something beautiful in the ancient mythological times at the moment of celebrating the mid-autumn festival.

Wow, it's indeed unbelievable that the power of idol from Chen Kun has become the drive of active learning among yourselves :D , it looks great !

Eeerrrr.....However, it seems rather tough in the translation of poem after all :'(

Haha, unfortunately, I can't be of help to this topic as I'm only proficient in Manglish, just like those Singaporean who speak Singlish, it's not of international standard yet being criticized badly by foreigners.

One day later, perhaps some of you can assist in getting rid of the arguable English translation in the Chinese menu as well as the public signboards. Most of my friends who travelled back from China were once daunted by the English phrases out there, for eg, Non-smoking Room is translated as "No Smoke, Go Sleep", it's somehow like commanding the guest to go to bed immediately, not just amazing but amusing too, anyway, no offence :P

Furthermore, if not mistaken, in China, Wu Dong Mian is also translated as Dark Winter Noodle, Yun Tun Mian has become Cloud Swallow Noodle and so on, actually all these Chinese foods need not be literally translated by characters, just use Wu Dong noodle and Yun Tun noodle along with descriptions of making will do. We call Yun Tun Mian as Wanton Noodle here, just follows the Cantonese pronunciation since it's a Cantonese food. Similarly, Meat Bone Tea is known as Bak Kut Teh here based on the Hokkien sound :)

By the way, Bak Kut Teh is the most famous local Chinese food in Malaysia and Singapore, don't miss it if you happen to pay a visit here, trust me, no regret once you've tried it, haha, really Hui Wei Wu Qiong

Despite difficulties in the journey, hope those interested find your English learning here helpful and interesting after all. Last but not least, sorry for my poor English taking you a while in comprehension often :-p

Hi Edward,
      I don't know which part of China you have been to and when you were there.  But, when I were in China, I hardly see any mistakes in menus, especially in those restaurants for foreigners.  If you prefer to eat in the local, family-run-bussiness restaurants, you may have more chances to hear those funny translations and made a joke out of Chinese.
      I had been in South Asia for 3+ years.  The thing I don't like the most is their English  pronunciation, no matter Manglish or Singlish.  And I just can not understand why they have to pronounce "three" as "tree", and think that is the most accurate way.

p.s. I like Bak Kut Teh a lot and I think KL has the best Bak Kut Teh in the world.

Note: The answer has to be perfect match to the original words. :)

Haha..... My poor translations really make you thinking!

After all we just want to have fun together, and make funs of ourselves sometimes as well. At lest I do that! On the other hand, we all at the learning mode too. Please come up with some great idea as well.

Eerrr...you once stayed in South Asia or Southeast Asia ? They're of two geographically separate regions.

As foreigners, we tend to patronize the public/ family-run restaurants for the most original taste of the local foods. The hot spots where we used to pay a vist are Shenzen, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai.

Yup, you're right, we don't really mind about the pronunciation as well as grammar, may it be in Mandarin, Malay, English or various local Chinese dialects so long as we can understand the meaning of each other in communication.

As what you pointed out, this kind of scenario where Tree VS Three is really not uncommon here. Same to Mandarin, we almost pronounce Shi(是), Si(思) the same, it is tough for us to speak 翘舌音, our tongues may just get knotted if we're to switch frequently between 翘舌 and 平舌 like China Chinese

All in all, I think Singlish is much better than Manglish coz English still remains as the primary medium of instruction in Singapore schools. In Malaysia. English had been replaced with Malay language in teaching ever since independence, too bad :'(

hmmmm, I don't think KL is having the best Bak Kut Teh (肉骨茶) but surely the best Bak Kut Teh comes from M'sia. I love the soup only, not really the fat pork and internal organs, usually I taste it with oil-fried stick (油炸鬼) and Toufu Puff (豆腐 Pop)  :)

because, I think we all feel the same, --- that Kun-er's voice speaking the language he is speaking right now in his everyday life,
is already so "charming & good -to-listen-to";  as long as we hear HIS VOICE, the 'language' itself is not important at all !  :loveliness:

I have read Pride and Prejudice for more than 4 times. It has become one of my favorite books since I seriously loaded my eyes on it the first time. I guess this is also one kind of first-sight love. I am sure you girls will enjoy and love it.

Here I strongly recommend another book from my favorite list – Lonesome Dove. It is a Pulitzer-Prize winning western novel. It is an amzing story about the adventures of two retired old rangers drving a cattle herd from Texas to Montana. It contains 900 pages, therefore some efforts and time are needed to finish it. It is a book to make us laugh, weep, dream and remember.Try it if you have the chance.

:)  U r no doubt a die-hard frenz of Chen Kun n just easily get impressed by his actions n sayings from time to time. By the way, I dun think he can speak so many international languages fluently, sorry, no offence :P

I like the translation '孤独的鸽子'that sounds poetic, mysterious and a little bit pathetic :).
The translation '西部牛仔情' is too direct and lacks imagination :(

这个方法似乎很不错呀！特殊刺激记忆法，将来我们每每想到这个场景就会想到是社区里谁谁谁找了什么句子，最低限度也可以多了解几个相关主题的单词！:handshake

It's getting more challenge now, not sure how long I may last.  By the way, shall we discuss the German, French as well ?  Cause I really want to learn together with everybody here.
