Many new music CDs were released during 2009, and on today's Countdown, we bring you five of the most memorable. These are the albums we thought would worth a revisit.
Taiwan singer Amei is adopting a new identity in Amit.
No. 5 Amit
Taiwan singer Amei is adopting a new identity in Amit. The album was given the Puyuma name of the singer. Amit also stands for --Amei- Music is Transformed. The album features heavy rock and roll, bold and daring looks -- a departure from her previous style.
No.4 Butterfly
Taiwan singer Jolin Tsai is challenging professional ballerinas by spinning twenty rounds in her video from the album "Butterfly". Tsai's stunt is in line with her series of adventurous acts in solo concerts, which proved to be a bigger attraction than her music.
No.3 We are all Great Directors
Zhao Wei, a fresh graduate from Faculty of Directing in the Beijing Film Academy, has released her first album since graduation. We are all Great Directors features ten songs on which Zhao cooperated with musical supervisor Li Quan. Zhao, who shot to fame in the small screen, proved that she is just as talented in music.
No.2 Senses Around
Taiwan singer Yoga Lin, who gained fame in a local singing competition, kept a low profile to Mainland fans until his second album "Senses Around". His Beijing promotional news conference in 2009 endeared the singer to fans and further boosted the sales.
No.1 Myth
Mainland actor Chen Kun said farewell to a three-year hiatus with the new album "Myth". The launch ceremony was attended by Taiwan idol, the TV actress Cheryl Yang. Singer Faye Wong also sent blessings through a VCR. The new album has had soaring sales.
