Good afternoon teachers and fellow schoolmates,
As the captain of the affirmative side, I strongly agree to today’s motion that “teacher’s promotion should be based on students’ evaluation.”
Yet, we are not arguing that students’ evaluation should be the ONE and ONLY ONE factor which leads to the teacher’s promotion. Other factors such as teachers’ appraisals and their academic research performance should also be taken into consideration.
To start with, the major duty of a teacher is undoubtedly imparting knowledge to students and facilitating their learning process in classrooms. Students are the everyday audience. A knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher will be appreciated by students. Who know how well the teachers do in class better than students? Students’ evaluation is therefore an objective way to reflect the teaching performance.
From teachers’ point of view, once their promotions are hooked up to students’ evaluation, they are reminded that the major duty is teaching in classroom. They may be motivated to come up with creative ideas and other effective learning tools to facilitate students’ learning. Relationship between teachers and students could therefore be enhanced.
Moreover, many celebrities such as Mr. Barack Obama, the president of The United States; Mr. Ma Ying- jeou, the president of Taiwan, Professor Frank, the committee of education bureau in Australia, Miss Tarja Kaarina Halonen, the president of Finland and more else have supported today’s motion in their previous political meetings. Their reasons were almost the same: to improve the atmosphere of learning, help the next generation can have higher quality teachers to teach them. And the Education in these countries are successful especially in Finland which has been known as the best country of education. From the above examples, we can know that today’s motion is a successful system.
Later, our first speaker will talk about the statistic of countries which have proceed today’s motion and their careers in education and what they mean to us. And our second speaker will talk about the advantages of agreeing today’s motion such as it can improve the communications between students and teachers.
Last but not least, I want to ask my dearest opponents a very important question, do you think teachers should be responsible for students’ performances’ results?
To end my speech I will say today’s motion must stand. Thank you. |
